A SHORT WHILE AGO, IN A GALAXY NEAR EL-CHICO'S . . .

Nick and Ben decided to create a computer game over the summer to hone their undeniably magnificent programming abilities.  Thus they begat an idea for a great game; however, their Visual C++ skills were a bit lacking, despite all their former glory.  So they said, "Let there be another game, which sucketh, but which doth use Visual C++ in an overcomplicated manner so as to provide an organizational outline for future games."

And it was so.

News and Updates

11-17-2000 Woohoo! A Demo!

Here's a little demo of Jetpack man. Everything works, but the graphics still need some tuning, and the ghosts are still pretty dumb.  It should be done pretty quick though!

10-29-2000 Another Game

There haven't been any updates lately... mostly because no one comes to this site except for us when we need to transfer stuff around ;>  We're working on a less complicated game, though we've got the RPG all planned out, and I decided to put up a little demo of it so friends and family members can test some things for us on their own computers.  Thanks guys!

7-17-2000 Page Updates

Just a few updates today... added some links to other games I've written (none very impressive.)  Hopefully we'll have DirectSound and DirectMusic working sometime soon.

6-11-2000 Apologies for smacking Direct X around

OK, maybe we were a little hasty.  It turns out our little demo we put up yesterday won't run on any other computer besides mine ;>.  We think we have fixed the problem and hope Direct X accepts our apology.  We promise not to mock the power of Microsoft again.

6-10-2000 Nick and Ben Conquer DirectX

That's right, folks, we looked DirectX right in the eye and said, "Who's yer daddy, DirectX?" It replied "Aw, well, you are, Nick and Ben."  We said, "Yeah, that's right, now go make us a sandwich."  We decided to put up a preview of us smacking DirectX around so you can somewhat see what the game is supposed to look like.  We apologize to the guy whose characters we ripped off, but we promise to replace those with our own much crappier versions.  The game is in DirectX 7, you have to have it to run the preview.  I think the address is www.microsoft.com/directx ... you'll have to check that one yourself. You have to move around with the arrow keys (just try it, the screen will come up eventually) and hit Alt+F4 to exit.  Have fun!

5-31-2000 Source code and big project update

Finally put up the source code for diamond, so those of you who want CAN see how pathetically overcomplicated it is.  Also, we've more than started the big project, which still remains untitled.  We decided on a role-playing game and we currently have most of the content ... as soon as we can we'll try to put up some details or concept art by Nick's mom (that's right, my mom.) Oh, and I also took off our lame demo versions.

5-10-2000 Diamond version 1.1

Ok, NOW we've got all the bugs worked out, we promise.  You can now beat the game with any of the three different endings.

5-9-2000 Diamond version 1.0 is released!!!

Well, we've worked out some bugs and finally finished the game tonight.  Finally, the long wait is over!  Download version 1.0 now and email us if you find any more bugs.  We'll put the crazy source code up in a day or two.

5-8-2000 Refurbishments and Diamond Demo

This page only took me 20 minutes to make this morning.  I decided to some upgrades to it.  Now it has different colors.  Also, we are pleased to announce the release of the test version of Diamond, which includes fully working game functions and two full rooms!!!  Please try to contain your excitement, we can't answer so many emails.

5-8-2000 Diamond beta version

The not-the-main-project game, Diamond, is now available in the beta version.  We apologize whole-heartedly that this games sucks.

5-8-2000 Grand Opening

Nick and Ben's Free Computer Games is created and officially opens.

Downloads
Jetpack Man  Demo Version

The Big Game Test Version  Here's what we've got so far.  Remember you have to have DirectX 7.0.  Use the arrow keys to move around, and F11 to make a little explosion appear.  The only solid figure is that old guy on the pile of sand.  Hit Alt+F4 to exit.

Diamond v1.1  The epic adventure.  Unravel the mystery of the disappearance of your supermodel, computer-game programmer girlfriend.

Diamond Source Code  It includes twelve -- count em, twelve -- source files and a header file.  We weren't kidding about that overcomplicated thing.

Super Spud  Nick's first decent game... still kinda buggy.
